The Morrov Observatory
The Morrov Observatory is one of the oldest surviving structures in Quenost Cross. It was designed by the engineer Sabine Quenbrinvel and completed in 1908. The structure stands 17 metres tall.
Sabine Quenbrinvel drew up the plans after a public subscription raised funds for the project. Construction took three seasons, using stone quarried a few miles inland. When it opened in 1908, local newspapers described it as the most ambitious public work the town had attempted.
The Morrov Observatory was restored in the late twentieth century and remains a familiar landmark for residents and visitors.
